Fun Facts

Fun fact: I've only been on an airplane once and I was the one flying it (Pilot's license). Furthermore, my family and I travel to Florida every other year for Christmas. Yes, we drive 22 hours straight in a cramp car with my parents and my two siblings (I'm the middle child). This is where my amazing patience was acquired. I love sports and I taught myself to play guitar watching YouTube videos! I am a social butterfly. I will talk to anyone about anything.

About Me

I will be graduating from the connecticut">University of Connecticut with a bachelors of science in Mathematics/Physics in December 2017. I had dreamed of being a middle school Math teacher since I was in 5th grade until I was convinced otherwise by principals and teachers I babysat for told me the school systems aren't the same as it used to be. So I instead decided to perfect my skills and tutor on the side where I can personalize my teaching style to each individual since everyone learning style is unique

Experience

While in middle school and high school, I joined a mentoring club that connected older students with younger students who were struggling and created a mentor-ship program. Once I graduated and commuted to the connecticut">University of Connecticut's Stamford campus I would tutor low income students for free whenever I had the chance. I now tutor fellow students, family friends, neighbors and anyone who may ask for my assistance. I also had the chance to shadow and teach my own class for a year.

Approach

Until I reached college, I had always been diverse. I was considered the "smart kid" with my athletic friends and the "slacker" with my scholar friends which allowed me to be exposed to many different perspectives on teaching styles. Because of this, I approach each student differently. No two people learn the same so why should they be taught the same. A great tutor has to be prepared for anything but still ready to improvise on the spot. The key to teaching is patience and persistence.

Calculus I Tutoring

I took AP Calculus in high school and then was advised to take it again my freshman of college to cement my knowledge. As a Math/Physics major, I've used the information used in this course religiously in every problem I solve. I believe that success in this course is required to understand any type of advanced mathematics.

Middle School Math Tutoring

Middle School is where I have spent most of my tutoring time. I have shadowed countless mathematics classes in my local middle school and assisted with teaching new topics. I, myself, was placed in a math class a grade above while I was in middle school and as a Mathematics majors I used these concepts better than I can the English Alphabet.

Elementary Math Tutoring

I believe elementary math is more difficult for a child to understand than algebra to a high school student. I have tutored countless children from K-5th while assisting in many classrooms around my town in after school homework preparations. I especially perfected my tutoring approach in this field as a babysitter studying for exam and homework.
