Fun Facts
My four year old daughter Charlotte (Char Char) is my life, especially since I was a stay-at home Dad with her for the first three years of hers, and that cultivated a certain bond, “A special friendship, Daddy ... “ as she calls it. Also, I love to write hip hop lyrics in my spare time (yes, I know).
About Me
I am a 7th grade English (ELA) teacher at Alice Deal Middle School in Tenleytown in Washington, DC. I also lead a education/virginia/washington-dc">Special Education (SPED) classroom, so I have experience dealing with students who have learning disabilities.
Experience
As part of Americorps’ Reading Partners program, I facilitated getting elementary and middle school students a year or two behind in their reading level to catch up within a few months. With Achieve Tutoring, I tutored DCPS Middle School students after school in various subjects.
Approach
My little sister, who I helped with many an essay, tells me now that my tutoring approach was effective because I was never didactic with her, but rather led her in the right direction and ultimately let her do the thinking and the writing. ‘Fun and interactive’ she calls it. I bring this casual but effective method to all my students. Also, after a few sessions with me, your child will no longer have to rely on autocorrect.
