I am a member of Alpha Phi Omega Service Organization. We actively contribute to service throughout the community while also participating in leadership workshops. It has been a truly eye opening part of my college experience.

About Me

I am a junior at Ohio State University in the Mathematics program. I also am working towards a minor in Computer and Information Systems. I hope to get a teaching license after graduation and teach at a high school level, eventually earning a masters of education.

I currently volunteer at my college's columbus">tutoring center for middle and high school students. There, I meet with a student once a week to hep with homework or whatever problem s/he is having with the subject I am assigned to help with. Work with the same student for the whole semester then reassigned based on availability next semester. This has been my first semester working there. Also, I have some experience with homework help from babysitting for several years.

I typically like to start out helping a student with homework in each session. This helps me to figure out what specific information the student is working on right now. If the student seems to have no trouble with the homework, then I try to create "challenge" problems based off of the information they were currently working with. If they do have difficulty, then I help the go step by step through an easier example of their homework and try to help them work up to the level they need to be at. Over time, I like to come back to these concepts again to make sure the information has stuck with the student.
