Fun Facts

Many people do not know this, but I've been playing the piano for 23 years! I've played professionally for our church the past 5 years. I am also a professional child photographer. I love working with kids in all different settings-- not just education!

About Me

I am a professional photographer and former Math tutor and substitute teacher with a Masters in Mathematics Education from DePaul University. I was one of the youngest students in my class, but enjoyed the time spent learning from other teachers during my program. In the next 5 years I plan to get my PhD in Mathematics so that I can eventually become a Math professor at a local university.

Experience

As a former tutor for Sylvan Learning Center, I taught students from Kindergarten through adulthood in a range of math subjects including addition, Trigonometry, Algebra, Calculus, and math/georgia/atlanta">ACT Math Prep. All of my math/georgia/atlanta">ACT Math students improved points at their ACT re-test. After Sylvan, I moved to working inside of a charter school teaching Math during prep periods then substitute teaching for grades K-8. I hope to make a big impact on the students I come in contact with at Frog Tutoring, LLC.

Approach

I have a very organic approach to tutoring my students. We do not rely on calculators, but use manipulatives, basic math facts, and problem solving skills to work through problems. I feel it is very important to teach students this way in order to create a more engaging and dynamic learning environment. Math can be difficult for some students, but constant encouragement from me and the use of different methods for teaching a subject will help the student not to give up!
