Fun Facts

Traveling is my greatest passion. I have visited and lived in various cities throughout Europe. This is because I love how experiencing different cultures allows me to develop multiples perspectives about the world around me. Aside from gallivanting overseas, I enjoy living a healthy lifestyle, which includes running, cycling, and/or practicing yoga/pilates almost everyday.

About Me

London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), masters degree in Health, Community and Development, Department of Social Psychology, graduated in 2009, Awarded Merit Honors in core module and dissertation

New York University (NYU), undergraduate degree in politics and economics, post-baccalaureate in pre-health studies, co-president of NYU post-baccalaureate society, graduated in 2007, GPA: 3.5

In the near future I am considering to pursue a PhD in Counseling Psychology.

As a college counselor and test prep tutor in Istanbul, Turkey, I had the chance to tutor students with English language skills ranging from beginner to native. I would work late nights and weekends to make sure my students received the academic and motivational support they needed to improve their scores. Since returning to New York City, I have been working as a SAT instructor for The Princeton Review, and would like to further my tutoring experience by branching out to different age groups and academic subjects.

Through my tutoring experiences, I have learned that when teachers with strong interpersonal skills use the initial connection with students to create a personalized teaching method, the bond between teacher and student grows stronger. This develops into a shared learning process between student and teacher, which motivates both parties because they feel equally responsible. I have had many students tell me they did my homework because they did not want to disappoint me. During the SAT season, I work on weekends and through the evening to make sure my students receive extra help. I want them to enter the SAT fully confident. When I see this commitment in my students, I feel truly fulfilled.
