Fun Facts

Over the course of my life I have been involved in many different ventures and hobbies. I have done plays, soccer, marching band, ran a chess club, video game competitions, lived in Russia for a year, and more. But music is definitely what stands above it all. I first started learning the piano at age 7, and have continued playing until today at age 24. I love watching my students grow and learn music, and also practice intensely to build my own performance repertoire.

About Me

I initially intended to be a science/arizona/phoenix">computer science guy and go work for Facebook/Google or something similar. Instead I found myself more and more drawn to the music world. My ultimate aim is to be a performing pianist. I set that goal for myself in August of 2017 and have been practicing daily to make that dream come true.

Experience

I began my piano tutoring a few months back in late 2017. So far I have been working with four students. Each started as beginners and can now read music fluently and have several songs that they can play. Before that I spent a year as a chess club coach for a company called the Chess Emporium. I had the pleasure of teaching kids from all over the valley how to stay focused and think like a pro. I am excited to bring that teaching experience to frog tutoring and spread music to a new generation.

Approach

From the get go I intermix theory and enjoyment. I want my students to uncover their own style and discover a love for music. From the very beginning I will also teach them about musical theory which includes an understanding of musical structure, chords, composition and interpretation. By the end of the second session my students will be able to read music sheets. I do not shame mistakes. Instead I teach my students to have the confidence to push through their mistakes.
