Fun Facts
I was raised in Brazil so my first language is Portuguese and I met my husband at Oregon State University who happens to be Portuguese. Besides being a Ph.D. in Statistics, I am also a doula. I like numbers and being able to help mothers deliver their babies! I love arts. I took acting classes for 9 years when I was a child/teenager. Nowadays I play the piano and sing in a choir. I love playing board games, especially Settlers of Catan.
About Me
I am a bachelor degree in Mathematics applied to Business, Masters and Ph.D. in Statistics. All of them acquired in Brazil. During my Ph.D. I had collaborators at Oregon State University so I spent most of the last 3 years of my Ph.D. in Oregon.
Experience
During most of my academic years, I was either a tutor or a Teaching Assistant. I have tutored Calculus, Linear Algebra, Basic Statistics, Stochastic Processes, among others. I have also volunteered to teach Basic Math and Personal Economy to low-income students.
Approach
As a child, I was always great at Math. One day the teacher asked why my friend and I were talking in class and she said that she understood better when I explained. As a tutor, I try to have a flexible approach according to each student. I try to show that Math isn't that scary by using fun examples.
