Fun Facts

One thing you'll quickly learn about me is that I love all things to do with fashion, makeup and especially hair. My hair is never the same. I love switching my style up and trying new things. My family used to always think I would get into fashion and design growing up, and although I didn't choose to follow that career wise, fashion and beauty are two subjects I'm still very interested in.

About Me

Hey there! I'm Johneva, a senior at Kent State University studying Spanish Translation and Public Communication. I love Spanish and I also love public speaking. I aspire to work as a translator for the United States Government, and I'd also like to be a news reporter for an English and/or Spanish speaking television network.

Experience

I've been tutoring for around 8 years now. For the last 5 years I've worked over the summer at the Skeels Mathews Community Center as a Spanish teacher for youth ages 5-17. During the school year I tutored school age children 5-18 every Tuesday and Thursday at the same center in a variety of subjects. I've even tutored other college students my age, especially in my field of study-Spanish.

Approach

I never say a student learns "slower" than another. I say he or she learns differently, and there's nothing wrong with that. As the teacher or tutor, it's my job to make sure that student is learning, so I believe it's up to me to teach how the student learns so that he or she can reach his or her full potential. I want every student to succeed. I truly believe in no student being left behind, so I do everything in my power to make sure my students learn the materiel.
