Fun Facts
A fun fact about me is that I learned to swim before I could walk! My parents met in New York City, but both had grown up in warm beach communities. They both hated the cold and missed the ocean, so they left the East Coast and headed for sunny Southern California. They had me in pools as an infant, and in the Pacific Ocean at six months. I took to swimming like a fish but could not walk until I was 18 months old!
I am the oldest of five girls and have three children who are 22, 19 and 17.
About Me
I recently left the corporate world and took a sabbatical to help my children navigate college applications, decipher financial aid packages and research scholarship opportunities.
I am using this time to expand on past work as a tutor and supporting special needs children in the San Ramon Valley Unified School. Specifically, helping parents/guardians advocate for their child(ren) and understand available accommodations
I have a Bachelor of Arts from UC Berkeley and a MS in Communications fro
Experience
I tutored children in the San Ramon Valley School District for over ten years. I spent most of this time with elementary-aged children who struggled with reading, writing and spelling. I have also worked with older children, as well as adults, on English grammar, writing/editing, reading and most Liberal Arts subjects such as history and political science.
Approach
I have a flexible approach that is based upon the needs of the individual student. I know that one approach does not work for everyone, and I try to find the right combination for all my clients. Because I have experience working with children with learning disabilities and/or special needs I have a lot of patience for those who may take longer
