Fun Facts

I love family! I have one little sister, and almost 30 first cousins whom I love to spend time with! I love sports! I played softball and flag football in college. I love to read and sing! I played the piano competitively from ages 4-17. I'm Haitian-American, and learned Creole, French, and English at the same time. I love people, and especially enjoy interacting with children!

About Me

I am 23 year old. I was born and raised in Georgia. I received a B.S in biology from Oakwood University in 2012. I did a gap year following graduation and did a year of service as an AmeriCorps volunteer with City Year in Cleveland, OH. I'm currently working towards a master in public health at Emory Rollins School of Public Health! Ultimately, I'd love to work in urban communities, teaching under-served populations how to improve their quality of life by improving their health outcomes.

I tutored students in Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Math at franklin">Franklin D. Roosevelt Academy in Cleveland, OH in grades 3-8 for the last academic year (2012-2013) with City Year. Prior to that, I tutored college students for a year at Oakwood University's Center for Academic Success in English, assisted them in writing papers from their various English classes, and also helped students who had been placed in remedial English classes to master the basics in order to pass the required tests needed to be promoted to the standard college classes.

I find that in my own academic career, examples help me to grasp a concept that's being taught to me. So in atlanta">tutoring, I often use examples to further explain a concept. I almost always use funny and or relevant topics (nature, sports, relationships, TV shows, etc.) that vary based on the interests of my students. I find that this serves the dual purpose of providing a brief reprieve from what is often a stressful school subject while driving home an important concept.
