Fun Facts
People are often surprised when they discover that I am originally from South Korea. I moved here permanently when I was 16 years old, and after a huge culture shock, I am now proud to call the good old U.S. of A. my home.
About Me
I recently graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in science/minnesota/minneapolis">Computer Science from Loyola chicago">University of Chicago. After graduation, I moved to Minnesota to work as a software engineer.
Experience
My tutoring experience started as a high school sophomore tutoring pre-algebra and algebra to middle schoolers. During college, I tutored a variety of subjects to elementary and middle school students part-time. Eventually, I began tutoring for my university's science/minnesota/minneapolis">Computer Science department and for a non-profit focusing on ACT test preparation for under-served high school students. I've always loved helping people understand new things and Frog Tutoring allows me to keep helping others learn.
Approach
I understand that no one can be good at everything, and some people struggle with things that come naturally to others. As a tutor, I try my best to break things down and explain everything in the simplest way possible and go over problems in a variety of ways so as to accommodate multiple learning styles. I never assume someone has background knowledge about a subject and encourage students to ask questions so they don't feel intimidated or like they are already behind when trying to learn.

Computer Science
C++ Tutoring
Many of the courses I took in college had assignments that were in C++. I got A's in all of these classes, and I currently work as a software engineer, where C++ is the main language I use on my current project. My tutoring experience in C++ stems from my work as a computer science tutor during college. I would help students with C++ coding assignments and explain object-oriented programming concepts and specifics about the language.
Computer Programming Tutoring
As mentioned previously, I am a Software Engineer by trade and computer programming is a key part of what I do during my day job. My undergraduate degree was in Computer Science with a focus in software engineering and network security, and I tutored others in various topics concerning programming throughout college.

As my degree is in Computer Science, I feel very comfortable understanding and explaining different topics related to the field and worked as a Computer Science tutor for a year while getting my degree.
Pre Calculus Tutoring
As a Computer Science major in college, I had to take various math classes, many of which required Calculus and Pre-Calculus as prerequisites. I am not naturally better at math than other subjects, so I know how to explain math concepts to students who struggle because I also needed to study and work hard to excel in the subject.
Study Skills Tutoring
As a recent graduate, I understand the struggles college students face when trying to balance school, work, and other aspects of life. I have a lot of experience developing my own study skills and have worked to help others improve their own studying habits and techniques as well.
Writing Tutoring
Although my degree is in Computer Science, I first attended college as an English major. I have always been a proficient writer and love to be able to express my thoughts and opinions through written language. I have tutored students and helped develop their writing skills since I was in high school and have experience working with students of all ages and grade levels.
