Fun Facts
I love to dance. I used to be a professional dancer and now,as I am older, I've been doing Ashtanga yoga. I have a daughter - in her fifties=-who I tutored when she was a child.. When she was seven, we went to a Mexican beach for a month. She took her second grade homework assignments with her. She worked about half an hour a day and returned ahead of her class.
About Me
My goal with each student is to help build ability, skill, confidence--and have fun while doing it.
I've taught lots and lots of students of all ages over many years, last not least my daughter! I've taught people of all ages: foreign born and been-here-all-their lives: everyone from immigrants with minimal education but lots of ambition and drive to professional writers trying to get a novel or non-fiction work published.
My philosophy: compassion! joy! life!
Experience
Oh so many years of teaching ?Creative Writing and ESL in colleges and junior colleges. I have an MA in creative writing from San Francisco State University and a TESOL certificate from UC Berkeley Extension I've also led children's dance and drama groups.
Approach
Make learning an enjoyable experience. Lots and lots of positive feedback along with sharp observation and a clear sense of procedure.

I studied French all through high school, then lived in France for two years during which time I greatly improved my skills. Subsequently I privately tutored a PhD Candidate in French..she passed successfully this language requirement, and many years later we remain om touch.

I have a Masters Degree in English/Creative Writing. I have written and published book reviews as well as critical articles and essays, and several prize winning novels. I have helped numerous students in their academic and creative work.

I have taught courses in international literature in which we read, discussed, and wrote about various works. I taught Literature Courses at the New College of California in San Francisco from 1986-1990.
