Fun Facts
As much as I love programming, I have an equal passion for music. I have played cello for eight years, and participated in my high school Region Symphony twice. I am also a self-taught composer of a number of string orchestra scores in my free time, as a perfect blend of my logical and creative interests. At one point I may consider developing algorithms which may autonomously write music humans have never created before.
About Me
I am a freshman science/texas/austin">Computer Science major at the University of Texas at Austin, and a member of the Turing Scholars science/texas/austin">Computer Science Honors program. In my later years at university I hope to study data mining and privacy, with the hope to foster a general awareness in the public of how much computers know about people during my career. I wish to develop software that empowers people with both customized service and respect of personal information.
Experience
In high school, I was a member of five tutoring nationwide Honor Societies in Mathematics, science/texas/austin">Computer Science, French, Music, and National Honor Society. Through these programs, students began to know me for my methodical approach and creative ways to explain problems, and began asking me for private tutoring, which I held on a regular basis. I also volunteered to tutor elementary school music students on string instruments two hours per week for six years through my district's beginner's program.
Approach
Whenever I am exposed to new and interesting phenomena, I never feel satisfied unless I know exactly why things happen. When I tutor other students, I never give answers without explanations of the reasoning behind them. I feel that understanding why answers are correct will allow students to apply their knowledge to other problems they may encounter. I always embrace a sense of academic curiosity (and silly examples) to keep students inspired and foster love for what they are learning.

I took AP Calculus BC my senior year of high school, and earned a A+ in the course as well as a 5 on the AP exam. I have also earned an A in Calculus III during my first semester of college.
