Fun Facts
I used to be scared of flying until two years ago when I gathered the courage to fly overseas. I decided to concentrate on the joy of air travel rather than the anxiety of it. That mindset along with composing music during the flight enabled me to fly without fear.
About Me
I am a composer and pianist with 20+ years of experience. I was trained at the New England Conservatory of music. At the age of 14 I won an award from the Dupont Merck Pharmaceutical company for my composition against drug abuse. Simultaneously, the Billerica Minuteman newspaper wrote an article about my accomplishments. In 2015 my cantata for chorus and orchestra "Reflections on Love and Spirituality" received its world premiere performance by the Calliope ensemble at First Church Boston.
Experience
I've given private music lessons in the past and was delighted to see how fast my students, who were as young as 9 without knowledge of piano and music theory, learned to read music and play the piano. Besides teaching music, in high school I used to tutor my classmates in math. Also, in the corporate world, as a software test engineer, I've trained employees in software testing and information technology. I am excited about teaching music again to enrich the lives of students of all ages.
Approach
In high school I was frustrated with the way math was taught. The teachers used to teach only methods to solve problems but did not explain why the methods worked. In teaching music, I take the student through the evolution of a concept to show why a concept is the way it is. I also encourage critical thinking. I prompt the student to come up with the answers on his or her own in an engaging manner that ignites his or her enthusiasm.

In addition to academic training, I've studied Schoenberg's "Theory of Harmony", Salzer and Schachter's "Counterpoint in Composition", and Fux's "Gradus Ad Parnassum". Currently, I am attending the advanced ear training course at UMass Boston. I've been receiving A's on all exams and I can ask my professor to give you a recommendation of me if you require. I would love to teach this exciting subject to students of all ages.

I have 20+ years of experience playing the piano. I was trained at the New England Conservatory of Music. One of my instructors was David Hagan, with whom I studied piano works by Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Albeniz, Schoenberg, and Boulez. I've performed at various recitals at the New England Conservatory of Music and other venues.
