Fun Facts
One passion I am known for is playing guitar and singing. I love to sing and have been playing guitar for over 7 years. I am very athletic and absolutely love sports. Football and volleyball are my favorite. I hope to get better at photography since it's become a hobby of mine. The beach is my favorite place to go and, because I hate shoes, I'm always wearing flip flops.
About Me
I am a senior Elementary Education major, Spanish minor and emphasis attending Pacific Lutheran University. I have been on the Dean's List for all four years. When I graduate, I hope to find a job in the Northwest, preferably here in Washington or in Oregon. I will then go for my Master's within the first five years of teaching for ELL or Counseling.
Throughout my high school career, I would volunteer my time at the local elementary school, washington/washington/tacoma">tacoma">tutoring students in math and reading three times a week. Entering college as an elementary education major, I was able to work with a variety of classes and students, especially small groups, in all subject areas.
I believe, as a future educator, that students first of all need to understand that they have the capabilities and potential to do anything they set their minds to. As an educator, I establish this support and encouragement with all of my students. In addition, I believe that as an educator, it is my job to guide my students in their thought processes and understanding of content. I work with my students, probing questions and facilitating instruction only, instead of exercising direct instruction and simply handing my students the information. In addition, as a washington/washington/tacoma">tacoma">tutor, I hope to provide my students with skills and strategies that they can use in all subject areas-not necessarily provide assistance in one subject.
