Although I don't have professional experience in tutoring, I have been helping people learn for many years. As a big sister of 3 younger girls, I always helped them with their homework, especially in their math courses. As a manager, I also coached my employees on their career path and specific technical accounting concepts.
The key to helping someone learn is to discover what the best method of learning is for that person. Some can simply hear a statement and are able to understand the concept. Some people learn by example, and for some each process has to be diagrammed. Learning what method a person learns best will help that person be more successful. Once concept is learned, it must be practiced not only to master, but to also be able to recall later.
