Fun Facts
When I'm not working I try to keep a pretty busy lifestyle. I have two very active dogs that I like to take hiking or to the beach. Additionally I love to read, some of my favorite authors are Cassandra Clare and Sarah Maas. I try to eat pretty clean and meal prep every week.
About Me
I am a fifth grade teacher for Cupertino Union School District. This is my 5th year in education. This upcoming school year (2018-2019) will be my third year teaching fifth grade, I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 7th grade Language Arts/Social Studies. I received my K-8 teaching credential from San Jose State University. I received my B.A. in Sociology from the University of Great Falls in May of 2013. I would eventually like to go back to school to finish getting my master's degree in education.
Experience
I have been tutoring students off and on since I was in college. I have tutored all subject areas for elementary and middle school. Being a teacher allows me to have access to a variety of materials and to understand what the underlying concepts that need to be mastered.
Approach
Since I work as a teacher, I approach tutoring in a very similar way. I like to find out what my students interests are and use those as a connection to make learning more accessible. Additionally I want my students to understand the concepts, skills needed to complete the work. I focus on a deeper level of understanding, not just how to quickly find the answer or finish the assignment.
