About Me
I am originally from Maryland, and ventured out to washington/seattle">Seattle for my undergraduate degree at washington/seattle">seattle-university">washington/seattle">Seattle University! There, I studied English Literature and Creative Writing. I moved to Portland to pursue my post-baccalaureate degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences. Ultimately, I hope to become a speech-language pathologist in the Portland public school district.
I currently work as a part-time classroom assistant at a local preschool. I spend one-on-one time reading with students, guiding basic math games, and building a foundation for their love of learning. I love to see the spark in students' eyes when they have reached that "ah-ha!" moment.
From September 2009-June 2010, I served as a portland">tutor/mentor for high school students applying to college. My responsibilities included assessing and editing cover-letters, resumes, and personal statements, as well as assisting in homework assignments including reading-comprehension/oregon/portland">reading comprehension and social students. In addition to weekly portland">tutoring, I also met weekly with fellow mentors to discuss student needs and their future goals.
Warm and approachable, I strive to make education and learning as a whole fun for students. I ask questions to get students thinking on their own, as well as confirm they have full comprehension.
