Fun Facts
I was born and raised in Miami, so this has exposed me to tons of different cultures. I attribute my love for traveling to the fact that I have been raised in such a diverse setting. I like to experience different cultures and I have been fortunate enough to travel around Europe and Latin America. In my spare time, I like to play tennis (although I am not that great at it) and read books about social science.
About Me
I am a senior Mathematics and Economics major at Florida International University. Once I complete my Bachelor's degree, I plan on attending graduate school to obtain a PhD in Applied Mathematics in order to become a professor. I am currently conducting research with an Economics professor, where we utilize machine learning to analyze and make predictions about various economic phenomena.
Experience
I have been a learning assistant at Florida International University for over 3 years. This has entailed working closely with math professors; tutoring their students; grading homework and quizzes; and even holding review sessions for several hours a week. It has allowed me to work with hundreds of students of very diverse backgrounds and tutor every math course from College Algebra to Calculus III. While I normally tutor college students, I have tutored high school students in the past.
Approach
Before 11th grade, I was not particularly good at math. Luckily enough, my 11th grade math teacher provided me with the encouragement needed to excel in math and I have carried that approach throughout the years. One thing that I have learned is that math is a subject to be understood, not memorized. I have found that understanding the logic and reasoning behind a mathematical process goes a longer way towards excelling in math than rote memorizing it.

Business Calculus Tutoring
Since I am an Economics and Math major, I am familiar with the topics discussed in a Business Calculus course. While I have been a Calculus tutor for over two years at FIU, I have also done private tutoring in Business Calculus several times before.
Calculus I Tutoring
Aside from earning an 'A' in Calculus I, I have also been a Calculus tutor for over two years at FIU. This has allowed me to become exposed to the different approaches professors take to teaching Calculus I. Since I am a senior math major, I have taken numerous classes that build upon Calculus I. Having to use the methods learned in Calculus I for several classes every semester has allowed for me to master the subject.
Calculus 2 Tutoring
Aside from earning an 'A' in Calculus II, I have also been a Calculus tutor for over two years at FIU. For about two years I worked as a tutor at the Math Lab at FIU. My time at the Math Lab exposed me to the different approaches taken to teaching Statistics, in addition to tutoring hundreds of different students. Since I am a senior economics and math major, I have also taken several classes that involve the use of statistics.
Math Tutoring
Since I am a senior math major, I am comfortable tutoring practically any lower division math course and many upper division math courses. I have taken numerous Math courses during my time at FIU and have maintained a 3.80 GPA. Having been a Math tutor for over three years, I have a strong foundation in Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus.
