Fun Facts
At 14 years old I performed Tchaikovsky's Concerto #1 (abridged of course) at Carnegie Hall in New York City with the music school orchestra from Julliard Prep. I'd been studying piano for 7 years and I guess someone thought I had a future in music. Nope, I gave up performing but minored in jazz in college. I've flown a small plane, 25 hours around New England. Traveled through much of Europe,Asia, and some part of the Middle East. I have well developed sense of humor, and I love mocha.
About Me
I hold an MS in Educational Psychology and has twenty-five plus years tutoring experience including teaching at a Massachusetts preparatory school. Currently I tutor 27 children in English in grades K through 7. Tutoring children and adults is an exhilarating experience for me as I get to see the "ah hah" in the eyes of my clients. I have tutored a wide range of subjects at the elementary, junior high, high school, college / graduate school levels in the Boston area for multiple Tutoring services. My approach is to bring warmth and humor to the learning experience. I always collaborate with the client and customize a learning plan that maximizes their learning strengths and focuses on critical thinking: both knowledge and wisdom. I have assisted many undergraduate and graduate students with editing research and term papers, help graduate students on their applications to MBA programs, law school, nursing programs, and medical schools, and worked with PhD's in the preparation of literature reviews.
Experience
While in college and grad school I taught theology at Governor Dummer Academy in Byfield, MA. I also taught Sunday school and piano for 10 years. Over the past 7 years I've been an undergrad/grad tutor and academic coach on and off campuses throughout the Boston area such as Brandeis, Babson, Boston University, Northeastern, and Simmons where I coach business courses such as marketing, OB and business case study analysis.
Approach
My approach is to listen carefully to the student, understand their needs, strengths and challenges. Identify and help you understand your learning strengths and how to capitalize on them. Then we devise a knowledge/skills development model for the subject(s) you want to master, and begin your customized program. My goal is to help you become measurably successful and self-sufficient in study and learning . I use humor, compassion, and study skill tools to help you gain knowledge and confidence.

Graduate Level Writing Tutoring
Writing at the graduate school level requires competency with English grammar and the fundamentals of sentence structure and composition. My coaching at this level focuses on the application of critical thinking in the writing process, and the clarity of thought in the construction of research, analytical papers and abstracts. I've worked with graduate students and PhD candidates for the past 7 years.
Business Tutoring
Hold a BS in Management Sciences, and have 35+ years in corporate experience at startups to Fortune 500 companies. I currently tutor business subjects and case study analysis in: management theory, marketing, organizational behavior, and business law at schools such as Babson College, Northeastern, Brandeis, BU, Harvard Extension, Simmons College.
Writing Tutoring
I coach basic college level writing focusing on essential grammatical and punctuation skills, content development using critical thinking analysis and APA standards for presentation. I work with the student using Strunk & White's the 'Elements of Style', and review papers and online submissions to help the college student learn to write at the expected level.
Homework Coach Tutoring
A component of my graduate study in Educational Psychology addressed the theories on a child's approaches and responses to homework in relation to parent involvement and home environment. I'm a father of two (now adult) children with whom I learned how to coach homework skills including time management, goal setting, and at-home learning. I've coached 7 HS students in developing excellent homework management.
Psychology Tutoring
Hold a Master's in Educational Psychology, which is based on the principals of fundamental science of psychology from Freud through Adler and current CBT methodologies. I have also tutored college level Organizational Behavior coursework.
