Experience
I have taken every Math course up through Introduction to Ordinary Differential Equations. I also participated in Math competitions throughout high school. Due to the competitive nature of these competitions, I was driven to extensively study Math beyond the regular classroom curriculum. Lastly, I scored a 36 on the Math ACT.
Approach
As a tutor, I believe that the best way to learn something is to understand why and how it works. In public education, teachers often teach students algorithms and then have them regurgitate them on many practice problems. I believe that this system narrows a student's problem solving ability and makes it difficult for students to solve a new problem that uses known concepts. I will try to help students understand concepts and then let them think through the problem(s).
