Fun Facts

My biggest passion, other than learning, is rock climbing! I love to be outdoors on a nice sunny day, spending time with friends at the crag. The mental puzzle of the sport helped build my critical thinking skills, and the copious amount of falling helped me to not be so afraid of failure! I'm the middle child of 3, and grew up in Houston, Texas. I've got to say, I really like it here in Denver!

About Me

I am a junior Biochemistry major at the denver">University of Denver. I've been on the Dean's list for 2 years in a row! I hope to attend medical school in my home state, Texas. My goal is to one day provide medical care to underserved populations, people who really need help.

Experience

My mission to lift up myself and those around me didn't begin until I started college. While I was in the National Honor Society in high school and was able to maintain a good GPA, I wasn't focused on helping those around me. In my early college career I spent all of my free time in the library working in study groups with my peers. In helping others study for topics that I was encountering at the same time, I gained a very strong understanding of things like chemistry, calculus, and biology.

Approach

As far back as elementary school, I struggled with academics. I wasn't passionate about certain subjects, and struggled to focus any of my attention on studying for what didn't interest me - math in particular. In college I discovered how interesting seemingly mundane topics can be, and how fun and rewarding learning is. I plan to use the gratification of learning something new to motivate and build positive study habits in the students that I tutor.
