Fun Facts

Before attending university, I served as an Intelligence Specialist in the United States Navy from 2001-2005. I lived in western Europe for four and a half years, and had the privilege to travel extensively throughout Europe, South America, and the Middle East. The people I served with in the military hailed from wide and varied backgrounds, enriching my own experience while furthering my interpersonal skills and management experience.

About Me

I was raised in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. After graduating from high school, I decided to enlist in the United States Navy and spent the next four and half years stationed in Europe. My first assignment was at the Joint Analysis Center, in Molesworth, UK (about half an hour outside of Cambridge). My next assignment took me south to Rota, Spain, where I was attached to Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron Two (VQ-2), flying EP-3 signals intelligence aircraft. After receiving an honorable discharge from the US Navy, I moved to Washington State and attended the washington">University of Washington in washington/seattle">Seattle from 2007-2011. I received dual degrees in International Studies and English. After graduating in June 2011, I decided to relocate to sunny Austin, Texas.

I contributed to numerous academic research projects during my tenure at the washington">University of Washington, and I am a published author of undergraduate and graduate level research. I volunteered with the Husky United MIlitary Veterans during college, and also with the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

My austin">tutoring philosophy stems from the belief that all students have a unique approach to education and, given the right tools, each can achieve academic success. My experience as a manager, mentor, and lead author on University-level research projects have contributed to my understanding of importance of good guidance and leadership, and I look forward to using that experience as your austin">tutor.
