Fun Facts
I spend a lot of my free time in the outdoors (when it isn't hot out) - I love hiking, camping, swimming, paddle boarding, and climbing. When it is prohibitively warm I can also be found inside painting, drawing, or most recently, learning pottery.
About Me
I graduated last year with a major in business and economics. I am currently working as an accountant while taking masters classes to prepare for the CPA exam, which I will be taking this year.
Experience
I have been tutoring for several years. During my time in college I had the opportunity to work with two kindergarten refugee kids on English reading and writing. I also taught a weekly class for a small home school group of children aged 5-9 years in science and american history. Finally, I spent a year with a high school senior meeting bi -weekly for English literature and writing tutoring as well as general homework and organization assistance.
Approach
Throughout my time working with children I have found that the most important aspect of learning is finding a way to allow the student to connect with and engage in the materials. This widely varies across each student and subject but often boils down to figuring out what they value and making a connection between that and the content they are struggling with. I subscribe the Socratic method and like to teach by asking probing or leading questions that will guide the student to success.

Accounting Tutoring
I have taken both financial and managerial accounting at my primary college and earned A's in both of those courses. I have also taken payroll accounting, federally taxation, and cost accounting online and am currently studying to take the Certified Public Accountants Exam.
Business Tutoring
I was a business and economics major in college. I have taken management, marketing, accounting, finance, business strategy and analysis, and organizational effectiveness classes.

I was a social psychology minor in college. I have taken intro to psych, learning, developmental psych, experimental psych, psych statistics, and abnormal psychology.
ACT English Tutoring
I scored a 35 on the English portion of the ACT on my first take. I also helped my little brother prepare for the ACT 2 years later, and he ended up scoring a 32 overall.
ACT Math Tutoring
I scored a 32 on the ACT Math section on my first take. I also helped my little brother prepare for the ACT 2 years later, and he ended up scoring a 32 overall.
ACT Reading Tutoring
I scored a 34 on the ACT reading section on my first take. I have experience tutoring a high school senior in English Lit and composition.
