Fun Facts
I have lived in 4 foreign countries and I studied 5 foreign languages. I study Chinese martial arts, similar to Kung Fu and Tai Chi, and I am interested in being healthy in body and in mind. I am happy to teach or coach skills in reading, foreign language acquisition, writing, stretching and flexibility training, self-defense skills, and youthful health practices such as exercise for the facial muscles, and squat training.
About Me
I graduated with a degree in Italian and a minor in Business Administration from the University of Oregon. This led me to study abroad in Italy and to live with a host family, which was my first experience living in a foreign country. Since then, I lived in South Korea, Thailand, and Costa Rica, as a teacher and student. Living in foreign cultures has made my life both interesting and full of experiences that have changed my outlook on the important things in life.
Experience
I have spent most of my adult life working as a teacher, tutor, trainer, and coach. I lived for five years in Asia teaching English and a variety of other subjects in elementary schools and universities. I volunteered for five years as a martial arts coach at my kung fu school. I have tutored students in ESL both in person and online for more than six years. I have also taught various software programs as a corporate trainer in the travel industry.
Approach
I think we can all teach ourselves the things we are curious about, but often it's important to have someone there to help us along. As a tutor, I will help you to learn the knowledge you are seeking and will assist with your education goals through support and understanding.

Italian
English Tutoring
I have been in Honors or AP English courses since 5th grade since, as a child, I read about five books per week. In college, I focused on learning foreign languages, which has helped me to gain much more knowledge about English grammar in order to understand foreign translations. I taught English in schools for five years and many more as a tutor.
ESL Tutoring
I got my certification as a teacher of ESL in 2009 and I have been helping students to learn ESL since February 2010. I was a classroom teacher in South Korea teaching young learners and university students ESL, writing, public speaking, and communication courses. I spent two years teaching ESL and other courses to elementary students in Thailand. I also tutored Japanese, Thai, and Korean students both online and in person for more than six years.
Geography Tutoring
I studied geography of Europe and Asia when I was a student at the University of Oregon, but my real knowledge of geography comes from years of traveling and living in both Europe, Asia, and Central America. Living in a foreign community will help you to gain knowledge of geography on a personal and concrete level. Since I'm not a geography major, I recommend that we discuss your goals for geography coursework to see if we are a good match.
Italian Tutoring
I am an Italian major from the University of Oregon with a GPA of 3.77. I lived in Siena, Italy in the home of my host family where I took language and art courses. I speak Italian and I come from an Italian family where my grandmother taught me to cook from scratch. My Italian subject coursework included classes in linguistics, culture, history, literature, art, cinema, and food.
