Fun Facts

I graduated from the University of Florida in August 2011 (go Gators!) and recently moved to the Boston area. It's chilly, but I absolutely love it here. I am having a lot of fun spending time with my two nephews as well as helping them learn everything they can. I enjoy cooking Italian dishes from scratch - family recipes are my specialty!

About Me

Currently I am applying to Speech/Language Pathology graduate programs. My niece and nephew were born 14 weeks premature, so they worked with a speech therapist quite often. Seeing the positive impact the speech therapist had on their lives truly inspired me to pursue the Speech/Language Pathology track in graduate school. Because I love working with children, I will be specializing in pediatrics!

During my years at college, I interned, tutored, and volunteered at local schools: elementary, middle, and high schools. The teachers I worked with gave me great insight on how to grab students' attention and keep them interested in what they are learning. My favorite boston">tutoring experience was at Gainesville High School working with 4 students in an Algebra class; they were struggling to make Ds when I first got there, and after a semester they were all comfortably making Bs! It was incredibly rewarding to see their excited faces when they received their report cards before summer vacation.

I also learned that every child is unique, and it is extremely important to discover how each one learns best. Therefore, when boston">tutoring I like to find out which method is best for each student and use it to his or her advantage. Patience is key! No one is a "slow learner;" he or she just needs more time to process information. Every student is capable of learning. Sometimes all it takes is that extra push by a boston">tutor!
