Fun Facts

One passion of mine is traveling to exotic destinations. I've been to Europe twice, once in July 1984 and the other in October 2016. I have also been to Cuba in March 2017 with my wife. Although my traveling days are well behind me I still enjoy reading and hearing about what others are saying regarding their adventures on planes, trains and automobiles, and oh yes, cruise ships, too. I am still planning trips to Machu Picchu and Panama sometime in the near future.

About Me

I have two Bachelor degrees, first of which I earned in 1987 at Newman University in Wichita, Kansas (back then it was called Kansas Newman College) and the second in the year 2000 at Park University in Kansas City, Missouri. I graduated with a lowly 3.2 GPA from Newman, but skyrocketed to a 4.0 at Park. I do know more about Psychology, namely Social Psychology, than about Business Administration, but when it comes to navigating in Excel, I am quite adept.

Experience

I am currently between jobs right now,as I have been stricken with ataxia, which has affected my cerebellum only. My cerebrum is untouched and those who I have been tutoring cannot tell that I have ataxia. Going forward I would like to tutor and be a mentor to high school students and adults who desire to do more than just possess a diploma or a degree.

Approach

During the first four years of my education I struggled with my shyness, having only earned 3.2 GPA which was up slightly from high school. My last few years my GPA increased exponentially to 4.0 as I found the subject of Psychology to be more fascinating and much more in depth than Business, although my time at Newman was definitely not wasted effort. As a tutor/mentor I hope to encourage my students to be more inquisitive, more engaging and more in-touch with their own desires.

College Algebra Tutoring

In high school, I never took an advanced class in mathematics. In college, my first advanced class was College Algebra which I aced. I could not figure out what all the fuss was about.

English Tutoring

English was never my strongest suit. Having gone through several Spanish language programs I developed a new found respect for English grammar, and learned that I have a knack for grammar and acquiring new vocabulary. I'd like ti instill that into my students.

ESL Tutoring

English was never my strongest suit. Having gone through several Spanish language programs I developed a new found respect for English grammar, and learned that I have a knack for grammar and acquiring new vocabulary. I'd like to instill that into my students. A few years ago I earned my TESOL/TESL/TEFL certificate from Oxford, and now I have a more profound respect for the English language.

Psychology Tutoring

In college, about my sophomore year, I decided to make psychology a double major. Somewhere along the way i got side-tracked, ending up with just a degree in Business Administration. Several years later, I went back to school and earned that degree in Social Psychology from Park University, and graduated with a 4.0 GPA in just two years. I'd love to instill that same love for psychology in all of my students.

Spanish I Tutoring

In high school, one of my favorite classes was Spanish. Learning new vocabulary and studying a new culture, was fascinating to me. Spanish has become the second most commonly spoken language in the world, so having a rudimentary sense of Spanish is something that all of us should have.

Writing Tutoring

English and writing was never my strongest suit. Having gone through several Spanish language programs I developed a new found respect for English grammar and Writing, and learned that I have a knack for grammar and acquiring new vocabulary. I'd like to instill that into my students, and help them to be the best writers the can be. Some students will learn to write well and then there is the select few who will go on to be great writers.

Reading Comprehension Tutoring

I love to read! I'd like to instill that love into all of my students! Books are our friends, and bookstores and libraries, are great places to pass the time while doing your homework, rather than watching TV or playing your video games.

ESL/ESOL Tutoring

in July 2016, I earned my certificate to teach TESOL/TESL/TEFL from Oxford. Since then, I have taught/mentored several students in ESL, through another tutoring service. I'd like to expand my services and tutor/mentor as many students as I can through FrogTutoring in helping them to pass their ESL/ESOL test perfectly the first time.

GED Tutoring

In high school, I was always a B+ average or better student but never consistently made the honor roll. I blame my shyness for not giving me the edge to do better. Now, for all those kids to dropped out of high school (for one reason or another) I want to instill a love of learning into them and help them pass that 4-part GED exam the first time.

Microsoft Excel Tutoring

Having recently purchased a Microsoft Excel test prep book, I soon discovered that I know more than the average person who uses Excel in the workplace today. Most of the credit go to Mark Andreas, my teacher and mentor, while I was working in the Accounts Payable Department for Crittenton Children's Center, and the rest to my trainers at Sprint, who led me to go on to be the sole trainer at Sprint in all things Excel.

Quickbooks Tutoring

I have some experience working with Quickbooks when I worked at Mount Olivet Cemetery, and having purchased the Quickbooks software I realized how easy Quickbooks was with a rudimentary knowledge of bookkeeping. I'd love to instill that same level of knowledge and confidence in ALLof my students!

Accounting Tutoring

In college, my initial major was Accounting, I aced ALL of my initial accounting courses, but got side-tracked somewhere along the way. Ever since college I have always worked in some capacity in the Accounting field, enough to believe that Accounting was somehow in my blood. I desire to instill that love for Accounting in all of my students.
