Fun Facts

One thing that will be incredibly evident upon meeting me is that I LOVE music. When those very rare bouts of down-time hit, you can probably catch me playing or listening to music of any kind. I love striving to reach my fullest potential, which might explain why I am a First Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. I lived in California my entire life and am now in Washington, DC attending school.

About Me

I am a first-year student at American University seeking Psychology Degree with a minor in Finance. Currently, my GPA is a 3.8. Upon completing my undergraduate studies, I plan to attend law school. In the long term, I see myself working at a law firm or on Wall Street as a financial marketing analyst.

In high school, I was a member of both the California Scholarship Federation and the Tri-Music National Honor Society. As a member of both, my duties included weekly instruction to peers who required additional explanation or assistance with their homework. During a mission trip to Guatemala in 2011, I worked with local organizations and aided deprived villages with their education program. There, I was also presented with the responsibility of teaching and instructing the students in the classroom - in Spanish. I also participated as the principle cellist in all three music organizations that I belonged to and was often given the responsibility of ensuring that each member of the section was able to perform appropriately.

I think that the most important quality that any washington-dc">tutor can offer is comfort. By providing a student with a person that they can bounce ideas off of with no judgement whatsoever, they can better understand that not grasping a concept is completely okay! From there, my approach would be to find the student's root of uncertainty by returning to the fundamentals of the subject. Because they finally understand it, the student is much more likely to complete and enjoy their work . Since I'm the type of student who has to talk through and read things over a few times to completely grasp the information that is being presented, my washington-dc">tutoring approach would be full of questions to ensure that the student is able to fully comprehend his/her subject matter.
