Fun Facts

A huge sports and music fan, some of my favorite hobbies are playing wiffleball with my neighborhood friends or playing the piano. I am a huge fan of the New York Yankees even though I am from maryland/baltimore">Baltimore, and I love to stand up for my team even though I am from enemy territory. I am left-handed and proud of it.

About Me

I am a sophomore political science major at American Univeristy. When I graduate, I hope to attend law school and ultimately become a practicing lawyer although I am not sure in what field. I graduated in the top 5% of my high school graduating class and was named a College Board AP Scholar with Distinction.

While in high school, I tutored students through the National Honor Society, of which I was president my senior year. In my freshman year (at dickinson-college">Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania; transferred to American University for Fall 2013) I took a course on washington-dc">tutoring in writing centers and tutored toward the end of the semester (never actually worked in the writing center because of the transfer).

I am a very patient person and use a patient approach while washington-dc">tutoring. As a washington-dc">tutor, I do not think of myself as some storehouse of knowledge, but rather a well-educated and balanced person who can help students better themselves. I believe letting the student set the agenda for what particular skills they want to work on is of utmost importance, particularly in the writing center-style washington-dc">tutoring in which I am experienced. I have always been a diligent student, so I will teach students study habits that have been successful for me as well as reinforcing material.
