Fun Facts
My preferred name is Olivia : ) I have lived in six different cities across three countries for the past nineteen years. I love dancing, fencing and watching movies (especially action movies). I attended a private boarding high school in New York. In high school, I used to be the president of the school dance performance group and the captain of the varsity girls' Epee fencing team. Someday soon, I hope to learn skiing.
About Me
I am a second year Psychology and Data Science major at UC Berkeley. I haven't decided what I want to do after I complete my undergraduate degree yet but I believe I am on my way to finding it. My ultimate goal is to utilize my knowledge and passion to make positive impacts on others.
Experience
Graduated with distinction in Latin and Mathematics, I was a Latin tutor, Math tutor and a Writing tutor for two years in high school. I used to tutor students one-on-one twice a week in each of the three subjects for all levels. I truly enjoyed helping, teaching and getting to know other students. Therefore, I am eager to continue such experience in college.
Approach
When I moved to the states during ninth grade, I found learning to be intimidating due to language barrier and different learning experience back in my home country. Fortunately, I met a group of passionate teachers who, through encouragement, and great care, helped me quickly realize my academic goals. As a tutor, I believe it is important to make detailed plans that can break down the final goal into smaller ones, and reach each one step-by-step with dedication and patience.

Chinese Tutoring
I am a native Chinese speaker and I was selected by the Language department to conduct weekly one-hour conversations with students from various Mandarin courses for a year in high school. I would conduct the conversations in ways that match with their current levels and topics covered in classes.
Study Skills Tutoring
I have a GPA of 4.0 for my first year at UC Berkeley. Among the eight courses I have taken during my Freshman year, the lowest grade I have received was an A and the highest being an A+. These courses cover a wide range of subjects ranging from Linear Algebra, Statistics to English Literature and Neuroscience. I believe I have a set of effective study skills that helped me achieve my academic goals.
