Fun Facts
I have had the good fortune of a very eclectic upbringing, having lived in seven countries, and travelled well beyond that. I love sports, all sports, at every level of professionalism. And as anyone pursuing a career in the humanities, I love to read; I mostly indulge in early 20th century fiction and critical responses to it, but I've been dabbling more and more in history writing the last few years. Despite my tin ear, I'm a lover of music, especially hip hop and progressive rock.
About Me
I've just completed my M.A. in English at Boston College after getting my undergraduate degree in Economics at NYU and briefly entering the finance sector. I am currently applying to PhD programs, of which Oxford, UCLA, and Temple are among my top choices. Eventually I hope to become a full tenured professor of British Modernism while also composing articles published in academic journals and popular periodicals alike.
Experience
I taught two semesters of a first year writing seminar at Boston College, with fifteen students each semester. This entailed five (at least; enterprising students may seek more) individual conferences to discuss various assigned papers and general issues with composition, along with regular seminar sessions. I have additionally helped local high school students with college application essays.
Approach
My pedagogical approach entails inspiring interest in my students' pursuits, which I hope to carry over to tutoring. Generally, I would like to leave my pupils equipped for a world in which their written ability might have critical bearing on their material prospects, whether they only need to compose cover letters and emails or use the craft much more extensively. Beyond that I seek to inculcate joy in learning, as I've found through the guidance of the many teachers who shaped my passions.
