Fun Facts

I live in Fort Worth and study at TCU but am originally from Boston. I have studied abroad in Holland, Switzerland, Italy, and France through a summer program. My goal is to become a 1st-3rd grade teacher, but will help anyone. I have volunteered at Kinderfrogs in Fort Worth, a school on campus for students with Down Syndrome. I love sports and am very patient, respectful, and approachable.

About Me

I am a junior early childhood education major at Texas Christian University with an emphasis in special needs. I plan on obtaining my master's degree in education/texas/fort-worth">special education. My overall GPA is a 3.599 and my major GPA is a 3.846. I have been named to the Dean's List twice and received a 4.0 semester GPA this past semester. I want to teach 1st-3rd grade after college or work with children with special needs. I was the brotherhood chair in my fraternity Beta Theta Pi. My goal is to be an effective teacher who is approachable.

I currently work for the Generation Hope Laptop Program and serve as a teacher in both a 6th and 7th grade classroom. This program features a STEM (science, technology, math, and engineering) curriculum. I have also taught lessons as part of my students teaching. As far as 1 on 1 tutoring goes, I often helped my little sister and other friends throughout high school with their homework. I care a lot about helping others, and acknowledge that I will likely learn a lot from whoever I am offering assistance to!

My tutoring approach will involve probing students to think creatively while offering assistance when necessary. I will encourage students to think about their reasoning, and frequently ask how or why a student has reached a certain conclusion. Every answer will be valued-right or wrong- as I believe something can be learned from many ways of thinking. From a character standpoint, I am extremely patient, and will only push my students within reason. I care a lot about teaching and want to see all of my students succeed. Together, I would work on forming a trust with my students that allows risk-taking and creative thinking. In my opinion, quality relationships are very important for learning to take place.
