Fun Facts

I studied abroad in Florence, Italy and have visited 13 countries! I'm an art history major, so I love going to museums with my friends and telling people what I have learned about the pieces. In my spare time I love to be active, but I also love Netflix and documentaries.

About Me

I'm a senior art history major at TCU from Dallas. I have a 3.66 GPA in my major and a 3.5 GPA overall. In addition to art history, I'm also confident in tutoring early and intermediate level Spanish (I'm not as advanced as I used to be), and writing/English. People are usually surprised how much we have to write in art history! I'm currently in the process of applying to graduate school for art history/art theory and criticism. My ultimate career goal is to become an art buyer, but I would love any job in the art world.

Even though I have never tutored through a program like FrogTutoring, I frequently work with my friends who need help with their writing or studying topics that require a lot of memorization. I also have experience in tutoring language from when I learned Italian during my study abroad. My knowledge of Spanish helped me grasp Italian and teach others through their similarities. My stepmom and stepsister are both teachers - 5th and 1st grade, respectively - and are great learning examples for me on how to be a better educator and a better tutor. While my experience is stronger in upper level courses, I have confidence that their tutoring methods could help me with a larger spectrum of ages.

My approach to tutoring is to first see how the client views the material and pinpoint what areas give them the most trouble. In cases that involve writing or literature, I read over the material and then consider how I would approach it or what methods I would use if it were my assignment. In cases that involve memorization and the understanding of a lot of material, I break it in to smaller sections and approach each one individually, instead of trying to commit all the material at once. I try to combine the larger amount of information with smaller key words. I think concepts and facts become memorable when they are interesting and stand out in the mind, so I try to incorporate tidbits that are more than just straight up facts.
