Fun Facts
In my free time, I enjoy playing the violin, knitting, cooking, and reading. This gives me a lot of joy.
About Me
I graduated from Texas Woman's University with a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in English Literature and a minor in Spanish. I have always had an interest in reading and writing and really enjoy helping others build their strengths in those areas.
Experience
I have substituted in Austin ISD for several years, working with elementary and middle school students (as well as education/texas/austin">Special Education) in English (writing and reading) as well as math. I have also been an online tutor for Tutapoint.com for several years. I enjoy helping a child/teenager understand a new concept that they are having difficulty with as well as helping them to get excited and connect with what they are learning.
Approach
As a child, I found it difficult at times to follow along in school, and I was fortunate enough to have found a teacher who guided me on a good path to strengthening my study skills and learn new ways of connecting with the material I was learning. This left a lasting impact on me and I feel inspired to pass on some of these techniques. I feel it so rewarding to see a child overcome their struggle by gaining more confidence and feel more at ease again in their classes!
