Fun Facts
Hi, I'm Ryan. I'm an engineering student at Trinity University, but I try and keep myself busy with more than just my engineering studies. I sing baritone in the Trinity Chamber Ensemble, and I am in the male a Capella group on campus. I also play saxophone in the band. I enjoy playing new and challenging board games with my friends to occupy my time outside of class.
About Me
I'm a second-semester senior at Trinity University, planning on graduating with a BS in Engineering Science and a minor in Mathematics. I have a GPA of 3.53. After graduating, I plan on attending graduate school to earn a PhD in Biomedical Engineering. I have internship experience at national research laboratories, and after earning my PhD, plan to work in the national defense industry.
Last fall, I tutored a high school senior through her AP Chemistry course. She was very bright, but had some attention issues. She worked through homework herself, and if she had any questions, I was there to help her through the problems. Before tests, we would work together to create a study guide and find practice problems for her to work.
My goal as a tutor is to help a student understand the material so that they can feel confident doing in the classroom. After learning the student's study methods, I will work with the student to explain concepts in a way that they can understand, and walk them through practice problems. Typically what I like to do is have a student bring their book, homework, and lecture notes and have them tell me what they are having the most trouble with. We will work on homework problems until they feel confident that they can do them without my help. Before tests, I will help a student to build a study guide with concepts to know and help them find challenging practice problems similar to the test material. I will not do a student's work, but will be a resource for understanding and improvement.
