About Me

I am a Graduate Instructional Assitant and scholar of History and Sociology. I have a Bachelor of Arts in History, and I am a certified Texas public school teacher (Generalist 4-8). I taught 6-8th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies/History for nearly five years, and specialize in supporting ESL and 504 students.

Experience

Prior to Assitant Teaching undergraduates, I spent five years as a public school teacher. I have taught middle school History, Geography, and English Language Arts and have prepared students for the Reading and Social Studies STAAR tests. Currently, I tutor undergraduate students in Sociology, Statistics, and History .

Approach

As a student, I struggled with undiagnosed ADHD and anxiety and my grades and relationships suffered. It is my aim as an educator to ensure that ALL students are supported and cared for by gettting to know my individual students and scaffolding the curriculum to their specific needs. I blend social emotional learning techniques, engaging content, and individualized strategies to ensure my students feel confident and prepared to accomplish all of their goals.
