Fun Facts

I love read and write! During my free time, you can oftentimes find my curled up with a good book or writing my latest poem or the next chapter in my novel. I'm a Miami native, born and raised, and I fluently understand Spanish (although my speaking skills are a big rusty). I hope to one day be able to travel the world and experience all of its beautiful cultures, regions, and foods!

About Me

I am a senior English major at Florida International University with a concentration in Creative Writing. I've been on the Dean's List for multiple semesters and I am currently set to graduate with Honors in Spring, 2019! Afterwards, I plan to get my Masters of Fine Arts in Poetry at FIU or the miami">University of Miami, where I hope to follow my passion of teaching and become a Teaching Assistant. Later on, I will be pursuing a PhD in English, with which I hope to become an English professor.

Experience

Originally, I was an English Education major. As such, I had many opportunities to work with remedial and ESL English students and even learned valuable teaching techniques to further assist my students. I am currently volunteering with Exchange for Change in order to teach Creative Writing to inmates here in South Florida and would love to tutor students through Frog Tutoring!

Approach

I strongly believe that students thrive when they have a strong support system and a skill set that allows them to turn their weaknesses into strengths. I would help the student recognize the areas they need work in and help the student gather the tools they need in order to make reading and writing less of a struggle. As their tutor, I will not only help them out with their reading comprehension and writing skills, but would also be giving them study skills that can help them in other subjects.
