I love writing and teaching although I don't think I could handle being a teacher which is why I prefer boston">tutoring as it is more one on one and it allows me to understand and focus on one person's difficulties in a subject than trying to handle an entire class. I have a fascination with the Japanese language and culture. I've never owned any sort of pet, but I hope to when I eventually get my own place.

About Me

I'm a resident of Quincy, Massachusetts and have lived there my whole life. I'm hoping to become a novel editor or perhaps even a translator as I have a passion for the Japanese language and culture. I'm currently a freshman at the University of Massachusetts Boston studying as an English major and Japanese minor. I would consider myself to be polite, patient and eager to help.

I've had experience boston">tutoring students senior year at Quincy High School, but all my life I've enjoyed helping people who are struggling in subjects. On many occasions, I've had friends who would ask me to look over papers or help on how they should structure essays or how to do math problems. I'm excited at the idea of being able to help boston">tutor more students while in college too. It's largely why when I found out I could boston">tutor people I was excited about it.

The easiest way for me to figure out what a student needs is simply asking what aspects they're having trouble with. Depending on the subject there might need to be different approaches; if it's math then I find it's sometimes easier to look over whatever notes they have and see if I can simplify things they might be struggling with or do an example problem for them to see. If it's something like English it's usually helping them with structuring what they want to say on a very basic level, and then make it more complicated and more focused. Often times it is a matter of needing better organizational skills in their writing. With things like math and science its usually a matter of memorizing and working on studying habits.
