Approach
The study of history is a creative process that is based on the analysis of historical evidence that opens up a “conversation” that involves the professor, students, and the historical actors. I place importance on students being able to utilize information that they learn about the past in order to construct historical and clear interpretations. My vision is to stimulate the imagination and creativity of students as they engage the material and develop their own historical questions.

When the lightbulb goes off and students master historical thinking they learn “the power of the question.” a sense of excitement overwhelms me! My job as a teacher is to aid them in becoming comfortable with the process of historical thinking. As they develop a sense of self-confidence because they now possess a store of knowledge that they can utilize to investigate, challenge, and try to understand so that they can get beyond their parochial perspective and put on their critical historical thinking caps.
