Fun Facts
In my spare time you can find me relaxing in my hammock or sitting on the beach with my journal in hand. I play the ukulele and hope to learn to play the guitar soon. I'm not the greatest singer but I'll be singing at the top of my lungs with the windows down in my car.
About Me
I am a graduate from the tampa">University of Tampa with a BA in Sociology. I was on the Dean's List all 3 years and maintained a 3.9 GPA. Currently, I am applying to Masters of Social Work programs and intend to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Experience
As far as experience goes, I have not tutored before unless you count helping fellow classmates study for sociology tests. The same can be said for assisting classmates with writing papers. I enjoy helping others understand information and learn how to utilize it.
Approach
I am incredibly passionate about sociology and would love to impart that passion on others as a tutor. Sociology has taught me the importance of understanding and patience and those are factors that I will bring to each session. I look forward to helping students understand the subject matter and utilize ways of understanding going forward. Every student learns differently so it is important to explain the subject in a variety of ways. I will maintain this in every session.

Sociology
Sociology Tutoring
I earned a BA in sociology and maintained a 3.9 GPA. I participated in many in-class conversations to express my knowledge of the subject. I worked closely with faculty within the department and had the opportunity to attend a conference for sociology.
AP English Tutoring
I excelled in AP english in high school. The course was intensive and my teacher encouraged me to do my best work which resulted in a skill set for essay writing that has remained with me. I am an avid reader and have read many of the classic novels introduced in high school.
AP History Tutoring
I took AP US history and AP European history. I excelled in each class and found the subject matter very interesting. In having interesting courses I was able to enjoy history and view it in ways that were relevant and made sense.
Writing Tutoring
My ability to write well crafted essays stems from my experience in AP literature and AP english. Each class consisted of writing essays at varying lengths and including different subject matters. Within college, the requirement for writing essays remained and was integral for my major.
English Tutoring
I took Honors english in middle school and earned an A. I can teach how to annotate and focus on certain parts to focus on which is a skill they can utilize. During that time there is a focus on learning to write essays. I can break down the essay structure and make it less intimidating.
History Tutoring
I took Honors history. Looking back at it, it would have been great to have a teacher make it more appealing. In having one-on-one tutoring sessions I would be able to make history lessons fun and interesting.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
Vocabulary and comprehension are essential. Large words are intimidating at first but I can help break them down. It enhances their understanding of vocabulary. I utilized index cards in elementary school and found ways of connecting the vocabulary to things around me to better understand.
Social Studies Tutoring
I found social studies interesting but understand the importance of making it fun. In doing that, students are able to relate and can retain more information. This is something I intend to do during my sessions.
