Fun Facts

My passion in life is exploring different cultures, languages, and landscapes both within the US as well as around the world. I’ve been to 30 different countries as a student, teacher, and tourist and see the value in gaining different perspectives on myself and my country through the lenses of other nations. When I’m not globe trotting, I enjoy playing in the outdoors. I love to hike, backpack, snowboard, mountain bike, sail, and dance.

About Me

I currently work for an after school, non-profit organization called Campfire Colombia in North Eastern Portland. I recently moved to this exciting city from Montana where I was working with an all girls traveling high school called, The Traveling School, that took me to Southern Africa, and Latin America for 15 week increments. It was through this teaching experience where my passion for education was heightened. I received my BA from the University of Montana in Japanese with a Minor in Spanish and I plan on going to Graduate School for my MA in Education at portland-state-university">Portland State University next fall.

As a teacher for the Traveling School, I acted as both a portland">tutor as well as an instructor for all of my classes. I was also a personal English Language portland">tutor in Japan to a variety of different leveled students. I worked with people as young as elementary aged children to adults in their late 40’s as well as one teen with Autism.

When portland">tutoring, I make sure that I know where each of my students feel comfortable in any given subject and also where they are struggling. Once that has been established, we work together to find what the best learning technique is for them as a foundation for how our portland">tutoring sessions will unfold. Most importantly, I make sure that my students are striking a balance between feeling challenged and engaged throughout each lesson.
