It took me 10 years to get a 4 year degree (Perseverance)
It took me 10 years to obtain my degree because I was a full time mother of twin girls (25 now) and a son (20 now).
I am 50 years old, but I hope I don't look 50!:)

About Me

I am a graduate in 2001 from dallas-baptist-university">Dallas Baptist University.
I obtained a degree in Elementary Education with emphasis in Reading
I had a 3.4 GPA.
I taught elementary for 11 years. I taught 4 years in 3rd grade and 7 years in 5th grade.
My entire teaching career I taught a TAAS/TAKS level grade
I left teaching the year STAAR was implemented
I have taught every subject. When we departmentalized I focused on Reading/Writing/Lit/Spelling/Social Studies. However I did teach 3 years of Science and Math/departmental.


I have tutor after school for Math, Science and Reading.
I was involved in a "Science Club." Children that need additional help in certain areas of Science would be in the club. I did this for 4 of my 7 years in 5th grade. All the while doing in class tutoring for children "low" scoring in reading/spelling/writing. I would tutor in the mornings, at lunch or even after school when I wasn't in Science Club. I have done Lang. Art/Reading tutor all 11 years as a teacher. I also tutor "At Risk" children and kept running records of the student. "At Risk," children were monitor weekly by me and monthly by administration. I am experienced with multicultural children and multiple types of personalities. I enjoy working with children.

My Tutoring approach:
First and foremost the student is the focus of all lessons. Getting to know the student and building a relationship is priority.
I will learn and understand where the student needs additional attention to learning. I will build lesson plans that focus on strengthen a concept or helping the student understand an issue. I will do this by customizing individual lesson plans that meet the students needs. I will build the lessons with "Hands on/Minds On" learning. By engaging the student or making lessons interactive, he will have an understand of the task. The lessons will build Critical thinking skills by engaging the student in Q & A and analyzing work for a better understanding. The lessons
