Fun Facts

I play on the Ohio University Women’s Golf team and get to travel to fun places, meet other interesting college students from across the country, and do what I love! If I’m not studying, then there’s a good chance you’ll find me enjoying the beautiful weather out on the links. I absolutely love music, and play guitar, piano, and sing whenever I get the chance. My dad is a brilliant pianist and composer, and so I try to follow his example. I joined an all-female A Cappella group my freshman year

About Me

I am a sophomore English major enrolled in the Honors Tutorial College at Ohio University, with Latin, Spanish, and Political Science minors. When I graduate, I hope to attend either graduate school in English or go on to Law School. My lifelong ambition is to become a published author, but I would also enjoy a career as a college English professor, a lawyer, or a position in public policy.

In high school, I had the privilege of columbus">tutoring a fourth grade child twice a week for 1.5 years, focusing on such areas as reading-comprehension/ohio/columbus">reading comprehension and writing, but also general homework help. I was also a part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program for two years in high school and mentored a seventh grader. Upon entering college, I decided to join the FLES Program (Foreign Language in Elementary Schools) and was in charge of making lesson plans and teaching Spanish to Kindergarteners every Friday for 10 weeks. I couldn’t be more excited to join Frog columbus">Tutoring and continue my love for teaching and mentoring.

Throughout my educational career, I have found that positive reinforcement and encouragement have been vital to my success. Mark Twain once said, “I can live for two months on a compliment.” As a columbus">tutor, I recognize how important compliments are to motivating a student to realize his or her true potential and inspiring them to truly want to learn. I also think it is important for there to be open communication between columbus">tutor and child, and so I hope to bring an open environment to my columbus">tutoring sessions, where there is no such thing as a “stupid question.”
