Fun Facts

Ever since I was little, I have absolutely loved to read! I spend the majority of my free time with my nose in a book. Not only do I love to read stories, I also enjoy writing them. I have lived in Ohio my entire life and am a huge Buckeye fan! I also love to travel and hope to spend my summer studying abroad in England.

About Me

I am a junior at The Ohio State University with a 4.00 GPA within my English major. I am also involved in the National English Honor Society at The Ohio State University, Sigma Tau Delta. In this organization, I am the Service Chair, which means I am in charge of organizing our charity work. I am also a member of the Visual and Performing Arts Learning Community, in which I attend different art-related events with other OSU students. After graduation, I hope to go into either the publishing or editing field. My dream would be to work with young adult fiction.

In high school, I was involved in a program in which I would help elementary students improve their reading-comprehension/ohio/columbus">reading comprehension and also check over their homework assignments to make sure they were staying on task. I started this as part of my required volunteer work for National Honor Society but soon learned how much I enjoyed working with and helping students improve their skills. I have also worked with an online columbus">tutoring service that assists European students with their writing who speak English as a second language.

I was very fortunate to have an older sister who instilled in me a love of learning at a young age. I vividly remember becoming frustrated and upset when I could not learn to read as quickly as I wanted. With her help, patience, and understanding, I was soon reading above my grade-level. I try to carry on these same ideals when I columbus">tutor students. It is important to always be patient and keep a positive attitude. Perseverance is absolutely key when tackling a difficult subject. While it may seem disheartening at first, there is a great amount of pride for myself, parents, and especially the student when he/she accomplishes something they did not think was possible.
