Fun Facts

In my free time I enjoy playing Ultimate Frisbee on Vanderbilt University's club team. I also am involved in many clubs including Vanderbilt Prison Project and the Editorial Staff for Vanderbilt Historical Review. I love hiking and being outside. I also love playing board games for watching movies with my family.

About Me

I am a rising senior at Vanderbilt University studying Secondary Education and United States History. I am interested in working with students and communities, and I am hoping to complete a fellowship in community development or public policy after graduation. Teaching has always been something I love to do, and I hope to have a career educating students and adults about the world around them.

Experience

I have just returned from a two month volunteer project in Costa Rica where I taught English lessons in the community. Prior to my trip I have tutored and taught children for class credit and as a job teaching swim lessons. My partcipation in EmBRACE mentor club allowed me to create and teach life skills to girls in 4th through 8th grade. In high school I volunteered at an after school program in which I helped students complete homework and play sports.

Approach

I love learning, and I think that every person has an intrinsic curiosity about something. My goal is to make subject matter relatable to students so that they enjoy learning even if it is challenging. I build relationships with my students, so I can use their emotional and verbal responses to cater my lessons to their needs. I strive to create a learning environment that enhances their ability to learn, and I value teaching study skills that are always applicable.
