Fun Facts

My parents were missionaries in Ghana when I was young, and I gained a global perspective as I grew up. I am an Eagle Scout. My favorite aspect of history is naval history. Some of my hidden talents include whistling, swimming, and myth-busting.

About Me

I graduated from Trinity University in May 2013 and went into Trinity's Master of Arts in Teaching program that July. In January, I withdrew from the MAT program to seek an alternative form of teacher certification. My goal is to become certified and teach either geography or physics at the high school level.

I began paid tutoring in my junior year of high school and continued throughout college. Much of my tutoring experience, however, has been with classmates, hallmates, and friends who came to me for help with a few problems now and then. In Trinity's Master of Arts in Teaching program, I worked as an intern in a physics classroom and worked to help students on a daily basis.

I usually try to discover what my students know and don't know about a subject when I first meet them. If a student needs guidance, then I ask guiding questions, only going into "lecture mode" when a student does not have the fundamentals of knowledge for a topic. I give encouragement to my students when they are struggling or belittling themselves, and I praise them when they make an accomplishment or grasp an idea.
