Fun Facts

Something you may not know about me upon first meeting me is that I love film photography! I collect old film cameras and restore them to working order. I took American Sign Language in high school, and even though I am not fluent, I can communicate with the deaf.

About Me

I am a freshman Modern Dance major at Texas Christian University, and I am starting my business minor in the Fall 2014 semester. I was on the Dean's List last semester. When I graduate in 2017, I plan on pursuing my dance career by dancing professionally for a small company, teaching, and doing dance photography.

As a junior and senior in high school, I was part of National Honor Society. For my volunteer hours, we had the opportunity to work at our tutoring lab which met after school Wednesdays and Thursdays. I helped students with English and Pre-Algebra. I also have a seven year old sibling, and often help her complete her homework while keeping her on task. I would love the chance to tutor again and help students learn and grow.

As a tutor, I find patience to be very important. If I see a student doesn't understand something, I will try to explain it in a way that makes more sense to them. If that doesn't work, I will persevere and find another way until the student does understand. I find it important to be encouraging. I also want to help students develop good study skills so that they are prepared for the next step in their education. I want to assist students in finding the answers themselves, rather than handing them the answer. I will do this by asking them questions, and posing the question in other ways if necessary. I feel that all of the above defines my tutoring approach.
