About Me

I am attending washington-university">George washington-university">Washington University, Class of 2017, with my GPA standing at 3.7. I am majoring in International Affairs with a concentration in International Politics. In high school, I was the Editor of our literary magazine, an AP Honor Scholar with Distinction, won various California Writes awards, the Rotary Youth Leadership Award, and the President's Volunteer Service Award. After college, I plan to attend graduate school, working toward a Master's Degree in Public Policy.

I volunteered as an English as a Second Language (ESL) washington-dc">tutor in California with the Karen Refugee washington-dc">Tutoring Program. Working with those children on basic English, math, history, and science enhanced my communication skills as well as my ability to think on my feet, creating new, fun, yet simple ways to explain concepts. I was also a teacher’s assistant for 9th grade World History. I graded papers, offered guidance with essays, lead discussions, and helped write part of the curriculum.

My favorite teachers are the ones that bring the material to life, giving it relevancy and perspective. Education is about engaging students, establishing skills that surpass the classroom, and preparing them for world. As a washington-dc">tutor, I encourage my students to discover their own conclusions. In that regard, they learn not only the content, but how to think. It’s not just about finishing a homework assignment, but learning how to do the next one, what approaches and thought processes work best. Because all students learn differently, my teaching approach is founded on adaptability, tailoring my methods to the individual. At its core though, washington-dc">tutoring means awakening a genuine interest, fostering critical thinking, and building effective skills for the future.
