Fun Facts

One thing people learn quickly about me is my passion for reading! Anytime I have free time you can find me in a Barnes and Noble or Half Price Books store. Reading has always been my favorite hobby because you can go anywhere in the world in the pages of a book! I was inspired last year to travel to Tanzania, East Africa and I can not wait to see what other adventures await me.

About Me

I am a senior Biological Sciences major with a concentration in Zoology at Mississippi State University. I plan to attend Plymouth University to obtain my master's degree in Zoology and Conservation Biology. It is my hope that I one day will be able to study animal behavior while working with the Hyena project.
For the past 3 years, I have been tutoring my fellow college students in Biology and Biology related fields. I also stress that every student has the potential to excel in every class!

Experience

As a Supplemental Instruction leader on my college campus, I have had the opportunity to teach my fellow college students Biology twice a week for 3 years. I help them understand the material in a simple and effective way and then I supply them with study skills that they can take with them throughout the rest of their college career. I work with the associated professor to make sure my lesson plans go along with what is being taught in the course, and to ensure students success in the class!

Approach

As a tutor, I realize that every student learns in different ways. It is my job to nurture those different learning paths and encourage all students. My tutoring approach changes with each new student I meet, as I try to cater to their specific needs. As a student myself I always appreciated the teachers that took the extra time to explain a concept step by step or slowed down a lesson so that I never fell behind. I try to do the same for the students I tutor and mentor!
