Fun Facts
First fun fact about me is that I love track and field! I have been competing ever since I was little. My passion and hardwork allowed me to become a 13-time All-American in the sport. A second fun fact is that I am a member of the Beyhive (aka Beyoncé’s fan base). I have seen her perform live twice and it was life changing! In my fee time I enjoy working out and going to live jazz shows in downtown Kansas City.
About Me
I currently work as a business intelligence reporting analyst for an automotive software company in Kansas City, MO. I am responsible for operational reporting and analysis of complex data sets. I am still new to the area but I love and look forward to getting out and exploring the Kansas City area.
Experience
Before moving to Kansas I was a teaching assistant in graduate school for two years covering college algebra. I then went on to teach full-time at my Alma mater Morningside College for a year as a temporary mathematics instructor. I taught the following courses at Morningside: Precalculus, Calculus I and II, Linear Algebra, and Probability and Statistics. Since I have been in Kansas I have tutored high school students privately. I also worked at Mathnasium as an instructor after work.
Approach
Not all students learn the same way so it’s very important for me to observe the student. In doing so I can pick up on weaknesses the student may have and ultimately tailor the session in a way to allow the student to improve their skills and turn those weaknesses into strengths. I also believe it is important to build a friendly relationship with the student so that they can be comfortable and open to be challenged during sessions.
